Who We Are

First Church of God is affiliated with the Church of God movement headquartered in Anderson, Indiana. The Church of God is a global fellowship of believers committed to following Jesus Christ, studying God's Word, and fulfilling Christ's mission to make disciples. We emphasize Christian unity, holy living, and the belief that Jesus Christ is the center of our faith and message. 

Our congregation welcomes people from all walks of life. We believe that through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, individuals become part of God's family and His church.

Our Mission​

The purpose of the Church shall be to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ for all purposes required in or consistent with scripture:

 

• Evangelizing the unsaved through worship and evangelical services, training and educational ministries;

• Strengthening and building up Christians in the most holy faith through worship, training, teaching and education of the saint;

• Actively engaging the enterprise of missions both at home and abroad with prayers and financial support;

• Educating members and children in a manner consistent with the requirements of Holy Scripture, both in Sunday and weekly schools of Christian education.

What We Believe

• All scripture is divinely inspired of God. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21)

• One God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17; I Corinthians 8:6; II Corinthians 13:14; I John 5:7-8)

• Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and man. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18; John 1:1-14)

• Man was created in the image of God; man sinned and thereby not only incurred physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God. (Genesis 1:26, 2:16-17; Romans 5:12)

• Christ died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice and all who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood. (John 3:16; Romans 5:1-9; Hebrews 7:25; I Timothy 2:5)

• The crucified body of our Lord was resurrected from the dead; He ascended into Heaven and is our intercessor. (Matthew 27:63; Acts 1:9-11; Matthew 28:6)

• All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become the children of God. (John 3:3-5; John 1:12)

• All believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit into this one true body and are set apart for service to a holy walk. (I Corinthians 12:13; I Corinthians 1:30-31)

• The bodily resurrection of the just and unjust is certain with the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15; John 5:28-29)

• The spiritual relationship of all believers in our Lord and King Jesus Christ is living a life of righteous works separated from the world and witnessing of His saving grace through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 3:1-17)
